About the Course

Most surety conversations begin with a request: a bond, more capacity, a larger program, or help getting a particular job approved. The request matters, but it is rarely the whole story. Surety Advisors Academy teaches professionals to look beyond the immediate transaction and understand what the contractor is actually trying to accomplish. Built around the principles in More Than a Bond: Becoming a Trusted Advisor, the course develops the judgment to ask better questions, identify what has to be true for an objective to work, distinguish facts from assumptions, and understand the business decisions behind the bond. Participants will work through short lessons, case exercises, quizzes, applied assignments, and live case discussions designed to turn those ideas into usable advisory skills. The goal is to make technical surety knowledge more useful by putting it in context: better questions, better information, and a clearer understanding of how the bond fits into the contractor’s broader business.

About Surety Advisors Academy

There are excellent places to learn sales, prospecting, underwriting, financial analysis, WIP, and the technical side of getting bonds written. What is harder to find is training on how to understand where the bond fits into the contractor’s larger business. Contractors are becoming more sophisticated. The producer who can understand what the owner is trying to accomplish, what has to be true for that objective to work, and when the banker, CPA, attorney, underwriter, or another professional needs to be involved becomes far more valuable than someone who only responds to the next bond request.
